What is the Astrology of March 2025 Good For?

At first glance, the astrology of this March is odd. At a second glance, it becomes bizarre—and the more you scrutinize it, the scarier it seems, especially when you tune in to the sensationalism surrounding Venus Retrograde and eclipse buzzwords. So, the question you’re probably asking is: Is March really all that crazy?

From a practical standpoint, the answer may be yes, but things are a bit more complex than that.

In crafting this month’s "Best Astrology Dates" report with Mr. Travis Black, we initially struggled to pinpoint a productive date for each week. Eventually, we found some peculiar and exceedingly brief windows of opportunity, which revealed to me that this March is less about building up and more about tearing everything down—and possibly starting from scratch—in the name of doing it right!

How to Use Retrogrades & the Eclipses in Your Favor

Young person with curly hair holding spray paint faces a wall with red graffiti. Wearing a white shirt, in an urban setting.

One of the primary astrological factors that sour this month is the infamous retrogrades of Venus and Mercury. With Mercury retrograde, you might have been taught to expect technical difficulties, miscommunications, and similar issues. Meanwhile, rumor has it that Venus retrograde has the potential to end all your partnerships and turn friends into enemies. While there is some truth to that, a dose of realism reveals that it can’t possibly be true for everyone on earth at the same time. Our society simply wouldn’t be able to hold itself together if that were the case.

For that reason, I’m inclined to consider what those naturally drawn to the less extreme expressions of this timing might offer.

Retrogrades

One thing I’ve noticed, through observing clients and some symbolically informed conjecturing, is that this double retrograde period is well suited for revisiting an old idea and tearing it the fuck down— for lack of a better phrase.

Because these retrogrades are occurring in Aries, there’s an air of vandalism about them. Yet what is vandalism to some can be high art to others. And for those less artistically inclined, what might appear as a radical idea could be just what’s needed to make positive strides.

By being “mean” and unafraid to deconstruct your old ideas until they resemble something entirely different, you might discover that novel idea that makes you stand out. This may mean that launching a new project requires extra time, but the astrology suggests it will ultimately pay off.

Eclipses

The retrogrades in Aries aren’t the only challenge this month. We also have an Aries Solar Eclipse at the end of the month.

It’s true that eclipses aren’t always the best time to start a new venture—they can be dramatic and unpredictable. Some view them as configurations that bring nothing but bad luck. However, in my experience, it’s more about the stakes being raised than about misfortune alone. Yes, eclipses can be risky and troublesome, but they can also create situations where high risk leads to high reward.

I say this because the upcoming eclipse on March 29th might exemplify that. With the Sun exalted in Aries, it retains significant potential past being eclipsed.

This complements the retrograde period nicely. If the retrograde is a good time to deconstruct an idea or project, then the short post-eclipse period from March 30th to 31st could be ideal for bringing a new idea to life. In effect, you’re eclipsing an old idea with a new one, harnessing this month’s astrological energy for your benefit.
